Pipers Louise Rowland, Robyn Alexander, Gordon Sked and Drum Sergeant Melissa Carrell perform in Sweden on a ship half way between Stockholm and Gothenburg. The Coastals quartet put on a mini concert for the staff and passengers on the MS Juno on the famous Göta Canal.
Sporting their Coastals t-shirts and rocking out tunes like Waltzing Matilda, The Saints and Scotland the Brave, the crowd were seen writing down the band website displayed on the t-shirts to make new friendships and mark a memorable trip for people from all over the world. This once in a lifetime performance was the first for the Göta Canal Company and on the oldest registered ship in the world, the beautiful MS Juno.
Four best friends decided to take a holiday with a difference after the World Pipe Band Championships and go on a 4 day Swedish coast to coast adventure that would see them meet new friends, while experiencing the luxury of the ship, it's wonderful crew mixed with perfect weather and breathtaking scenery. On the third day the crew asked if we could play for them on the deck in the afternoon. This was a perfect opportunity to play close to the northern tip of the earth with the best surroundings this planet has to offer. The crew loved it so much that they filmed the performance and took photos which will be put forward as part of there promotion of the company in the coming months.
The 'Coastals quartet' would like to thank the Göta Canal Company for the opportunity to perform in such a unique place, with such wonderful people. It was an unforgettable experience and one that will be cherished for life.
